How do I become a Transport Manager?

To become a Transport Manager, you will need to pass two exams – a multiple choice exam and case study exam. The course we have developed has a proven track record to gain you all the skills you will need to pass the CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) Transport Manager exams.

How do I study for a Transport Manager course?

Our Transport Manager course has been developed to allow you to study in way that best suits you. We have live sessions running daily, 50 weeks a year. We have over 25 hours of pre-recorded material that you can access at any time. We have a multiple-choice question bank with over 1000 questions. We have an instructor that you can contact via email and also run several live question sessions a week so if you are unsure about anything you can gain further clarification.

Do you have a Transport Manager course near me?

Yes! Because our Transport Manager courses are run online you can access them from anywhere. The only time you will need to travel is to one of our Skills and Education Group approved exam centres. If there isn’t one that you are able to travel to we can refund you the exam fees so that you can book with a local exam centre to you.

What are the Transport Manager exam dates?

Exams typically fall on the second Friday of the month in March, June, September and December.

What is the minimum age to gain the Transport Manager qualification?

Learners can register for the Operator CPC exams from the age of 16. However, it should be made clear that the Traffic Commissioners in Great Britain have indicated that it is highly unlikely that they would accept anyone under the age of 18 as an appropriate transport manager for the purposes of satisfying the professional competence requirements to hold or apply for of an operators’ licence.

How long does the Transport Manager qualification last?

The Skills and Education Group (SEG) qualification is currently a lifetime award and holders will be considered professionally competent for the rest of their lives. However, professional competence can be affected at any time by certain personal circumstances, for example, if the holder is convicted of certain criminal offences.
It is also considered best practice to undertake a Transport Manager refresher course every 5 years to keep up to date with changes within the industry.

Are there any pre-requisites to undertake the course?

Although there are no specific entry requirements for this qualification, it is recommended that students have good English and Maths skills equivalent to Level 2 (GCSE) before they begin studying the CPC qualification at Level 3.

Can I do a Transport Manager course via distance learning?

Yes! Because our Transport Manager courses are run online you can complete it as a distance learner. The only time you would need to leave the comfort of your own home is when travelling to an exam centre on exam day!

What makes a good Transport Manager?

You will need good management skills in order to maintain a strong working relationship with both drivers and clients. You will need excellent communications skills and a keen eye for detail. Whilst working as a Transport Manager you will develop excellent transferable skills such as ensuring compliance within the industry, keeping abreast of new legal developments and taking a central planning role within a business.
